In the animated short film Notes from a small Japanese town you get to come along and experience a hot summer day in the small Japanese town Misato, in Saitama, north of Tokyo.

Notes from a small Japanese town has been in production since 2012 when I, during long walks around Misato and Katsushika, collected most of the small observations of the film.

When I got back to Sweden the film grew and grew into a full short film and pretty soon I decided to animate in stereoscopic 3d wich made it the first film in the format from Bortbyting.

The premiere of the film was in India and it has since been screened in Kiruna, Luleå, Norrköping, Seattle, Brest, Albany and more. But not in Misato…

This animated opening film was made to be screened before the main movies at the Arctic Light Film Festival 2015, on outdoorscreens in Kiruna and on 24 Norrbotten.

The idéa was to make a short film describing the jorney to the Arctic Light Film Festival for the two characters that were created for the festival poster.

Animated anniversary film for Arctic Light Film Festival 25 years

This animated short film was made to be screened before the main movies at the 25th Arctic Light Film Festival in 2014.

The concept was to tell the legend of Arctic Light Film Festival, it’s patron saint Alfhilde, how she
was created by the old gods, how she spreads light, fights the evil monsters of darkness, and how
we still celebrate her by cosying up in the dark theatre to watch movies, this time for the 25th year in a row. All in 20 seconds.

The music and sound is made by Martin Eriksson, TCB i Kiruna AB.

100 t-shirts

Kiruna konstgille

Stop-motion animated trailer from 2015

Kiruna konstgille in cooperation with Kiruna Guidetur and Hotell Kebne presents 100 t-shirts was an art exhibition in Kiruna town hall, August of 2015.

Over 100 t-shirts were on display and close to 80 artist and designers, all with a connection to Kiruna, participated with their custom designed t-shirts.

Magnus Fredriksson, Bortbyting (visuals) and Martin Eriksson, TCB i Kiruna AB (music) created this 20 seconds trailer for the event. A stop motion animation showing off (almost) every t-shirt.

Bortbyting also supplied the design for logos, posters, catalogue and special t-shirts made for advertisement.

Reklamfilm för Reklam & Grafiska i Kiruna

Denna Super Sentai-inspirerade reklamfilm för Reklam och Grafiska spelades in under sommaren 2014, på årets varmaste dag.

Inspirerad av de första Sentai-serierna från 70- och 80-talet. Inspelade på Luossavaara och mot greenscreen bakom Reklam & Grafiskas verkstad.

Martin Eriksson, TCB i Kiruna AB, ligger som vanligt bakom musiken i filmen. Sången, liksom bygge av hjälmar och robot, regi och animation står Magnus Fredriksson för.

Political party Kiruna-centern are fighting for continued access to healthcare in Kiruna. during the winter of 2013 this political commerical was shown at the out door screens in central Kiruna.

Bortbyting are behind visual design and developed the character of Kiruna hospital togeather with Kiruna-centern.

The idéa for this 20 sec commecial came from Kiruna-centern. Sound mix by Martin Eriksson, TCB i Kiruna AB.

Animated short from 2011

Mushrooms was one of the three final Kaisa & Harax²-films completed in 2011. It premiered at svtB during christmas the same year.

In Mushrooms, Kaisa and Harax² are about to pick some mushrooms -only the finest are good enough for Kaisa. But poor Harax² hasn’t quite figured out wich ones are the finest.

After a few mushroom related mistakes by Harax², he finds the perfect mushroomspot, but he hasn’t checked for wasps…

Later svt also made a Sami dub of the film for the Sami childrens program.

Kaisa and Harax² are going fishing.

Kaisa has a super wobbler lure and Harax² is very jealous.

svt later dubbed this film in Sami language for the Sami childrens tv.

Harax² have had enough of cinnamon rolls. He wants co-co balls, but it’s late and the store is about to close.

Kaisa and Harax² hurries through the dark forest. It’s almost a little bit scary and Harax² thinks he saw something behind the trees.

But monsters arn’t for real, right?

In 2010 bortbyting produced six Kaisa och Harax² shorts. The Night walk was the first one.
